what to bring when travelling to China in winter

For people those plan to travel in China in winter, I believe, what they most concern is the weather in winter. And what to wear at this time of China.

Below is Five Temperature Zones:

Cold-Temperate Zone: north part of Heilongjiang Province and Inner Mongolia (Representative city: Harbin)
Mid-Temperate Zone: Jilin, northern Xinjiang, and most of Heilongjiang, Liaoning, and Inner  Mongolia (Representative cities: Beijing, Shenyang, Dalian, Urumqi, Hohhot, Dunhuang, Lanzhou)
Warm-Temperate Zone: area of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Hebei Province (Representative cities: Xian, Taiyuan, Luoyang, Jinan, Qingdao, Zhengzhou)
Subtropical Zone: South of isotherm of Qinling Mountain-Huaihe River, east of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (Representative cities: Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Guilin, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Chengdu)
Tropical Zone: Hainan province, southern Taiwan, Guangdong, and Yunnan Province (Representative cities: Haikou, Sanya

China has vast land, so the climate varies. For instance, Hainan is tropical hot all year round, but Harbin where is in the far north is very cold in winter, while in the far west, it has typical desert weather in winter.

As a result, what you wear in china’s winter all depends on which place in china you plan to go. But in general, the majority part of China is dry and cold in winter. The outermost layer of clothing should be windproof, and optional cloth, fur or leather clothing; down clothing could be the formation of a relatively non-mobile air layer, warm and very good choice for winter travel clothing, underwear should be soft , moisture, breathable, thermal insulation so as to facilitate drying.
I find the best way to dress is in layers so you can add if you’re cold, take off if you get warm. Quite often the day starts rather cold, but once you’re out, especially if it’s sunny, you’ll warm up. You can wear layers of garments with a sweater and padded jacket outside.Padded jackets and wool-lined boots are one of the best buys in China, you could easily buy one when you need.
Bring clothes that are easy to hand wash and dry. Dark colored clothing allows you to not wash every day. Remember that you can purchase almost any kind of clothing in China. A good pair of comfy, well broken in, hiking shoes are highly recommended.
